Fontainebleau tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Fontainebleau

Fontainebleau lies southeast of Paris and is home to the famous elegant Renaissance chateau with its ornate furnishings.  Much of the architecture of the chateau is due to François I who wanted to replicate Florentine and Roman styles.  Francois I was originally drawn here by the first-class hunting afforded by the beautiful Foret de Fontainebleau.

The forest still offers numerous opportunities for hunting, walking, cycling and its rocks are a favourite with rock climbers.  Fontainebleau also has some classy little eateries and bars to keep you entertained of an evening!
