Sete tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Sete is the second largest fishing port in France after Marseille and has a gutsy, industrial feel to it.  This does not however take away its charm with the Grand Canal lined with pastel coloured Italian style houses and first rate seafood and fish restaurants.  In August jousting tournaments are held here where participants try to knock their opponents over board.

You may want to find out more about Sete's two famous sons, poet Paul Valery and singer Georges Brassens in the museums dedicated to these  local heroes.  Don't also forget to head for Mont St-Clair for fantastic views ranging from the Pyrenees to the Alps.  The small chapel here is a haven from the strong winds and thought provoking with its unique Communist looking interior decor!
