Millau tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Surprisingly Millau does not have a good reputation with the locals.  However, we beg to differ!  Famous for its glove-making, Millau is a bustling town which offers great views of the surrounding mountains from various points in the town.  It boasts wide boulevards, a relaxed cafe culture and some great shopping.

It's location at the confluence of the Tarn and the Dourbie river makes it an excellent place for discovering the Gorges du Tarn and the Grand Causses.  The two act as a playground for numerous sporting activities with Millau itself acting as an international centre for handgliding and parapente.

A must-see is the visitor centre at the Viaduct de Millau which offers fantastic views of the highest bridge in the world created by British architect Norman Foster.

Millau has changed its focus from glove-making and prefers now instead to concentrate on the tanning and dyeing of leather destined for the manufacture of clothing (including haute couture), shoes and furniture.
