Les Sables d'Olonne tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Les Sables'd'Olonne is a purpose built seaside resort on the Cote de la Lumiere (coast of light).  Its long sandy beach, numerous sports facilities and attractions make it ideal for a fun family holiday.

Port Olona is the starting point for the round-the-world yacht race which takes place every four years.  Known as the 'Vendee Globe' the race is extremely tough with the one-man crews being denied ports of call or assistance en route.

If you do manage to exhaust the many activities in the resort head out to La Chaume an ancient fisherman's quarter full of charm with white-washed houses and tiled roofs.  The Foret d'Olonne is also a must and comprises acres of dunes crisscrossed by footpaths along with the Ile de Noirmoutier which can be reached by bus in three hours.
