Antibes-Juan-Les-Pins tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Antibes was founded by the Greeks as Antipolis, 'the city opposite Nice' and in many ways it is the antithesis of Nice.  Antibes belongs to the young and vibrant who come to party in the nightclubs and languish on the expensive yachts moored in the harbour.  This picturesque resort boasts cobbled streets with flower-filled squares that have appealed to such artists as Picasso, Max Ernst and Nicolas de Stael.

The Chateau Grimaldi was the former residence of the Grimaldi family and home to Picasso for six months in 1946.  He donated the work he completed here to the chateau including The Goat and La Joie de Vivre.

On the other side of the Cap d'Antibes you'll find Juan-les-Pins where there are some excellent beaches and again great nightlife.  The Cap d'Antibes peninsula houses grandiose villas set amid dense pines and has become a favourite retreat for the rich and famous.
