Apt tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

It was the Romans who first pushed Apt to the fore founding Roman Colonia Apta Julia on the site of a former Celtic village.  Today, Apt is the capital of the Luberon mountain range and home to one of the largest production of crystallised fruits in the world.

Saturdays is when Apt really comes alive with every conceivable artisan, farmer and market gardener setting up their colourful stalls for market day.  All sorts of Provencal delicacies will be on display to tempt you and jazz musicians, organ players and street performers will provide ample entertainment.

The Maison du Parc Luberon is the headquarters and information centre for the Regional Park.  Here you can swot up on the park's 1,000 plant species and varied wildlife including beavers, wild boars, snakes and vultures.
