Frejus tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Frejus was the first Roman settlement of Gaul and is known for its Roman ruins that date back to 49 BC including the amphitheatre, remains of an aqueduct and a theatre where rock concerts and bullfights are now held.

The town's other claim to fame is the Cite Episcopale which contains the oldest baptistry in France.  The Cite was mainly built with the glowing red stone of the Esterel mountain range.

Not far from Frejus are a handful of monuments that recall the horrors of WWI including the Pagode Hong Hien built by the Japanese in 1917 which lies on the N7 approx. 2km from the centre of Frejus.
