St Raphael tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

St Raphael is a traditional Cote d'Azur resort with Art Nouveau elegance especially in the network of winding streets in the area around the Musee Archeologique with its reconstruction of a Roman galley.

It was often thought there was a sunken city that lay beneath the sea due to the retrieval of red bricks from the sea by local divers.  However, Jacques Cousteau investigated and found that the bricks were the remains of a Roman ship carrying building materials to the mainland.

St Raphael has grown in popularity to engulf its neighbour Frejus and boasts a tree-lined promenade, good beaches, Belle Epoque villas and a casino.  For those looking for more active pursuits, the Sentier du Littoral is a great way to experience some of the wind beaten coves that mark this coastline.
