St-Remy-de-Provence tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

It's not hard to see why St Remy has attracted so many great names over the centuries with its pretty tree-lined boulevards, artistic buzz and numerous art exhibitions.

Famous residents include Nostradamus who was born here, Vincent Van Gogh who was interned in the asylum here and Princess Caroline of Monaco who still holidays here (her family used to own the whole village).

In 1921 St Remy was further pushed to the fore when Roman ruins were unearthed at Glanum.  Almost all of the ruins are visible today including foundations of buildings, thermal baths and a mausoleum.

Whilst in St Remy don't forget to budget some time for Les Alpilles which is like entering an unreal universe of superbly carved limestone crags and scrubby green patches of marquis.
