Annecy tourist information

where to go - what to see - what to do

Annecy is the capital of the Haute-Savoie department and oozes authenticity, charm and style.  Situated at the southern tip of Lac D'Annecy and surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of the Alps, you have the choice of relaxing by the water's edge or trying your hand at one of the many water sports.  Annecy is also a good base for hiking, gliding, cycling and riding.

The medieval quarter or Vieille Ville is simply delightful with its canals and bridges decked in ornate flower displays.  From mid June to September a guided tour of the Vieille Ville is a must.  The other way to enjoy the area is to take a boat trip from Annecy to one of the surrounding villages, i.e. Talloires which is famed for its top quality restaurants.
